Request for Applications: XCEPT is seeking research on the intersections of conflict and climate
Published: 05/07/2024
Deadline: 09/09/2024
Deadline: 2 days
Status: Open
Sector: Research & Development
Location of contract: Any region
Value of contract: £500,000
The buyer: Chemonics International, Inc.
The XCEPT Research Fund (XRF) is seeking applications from researchers to explore responses at the intersection of climate change and violent conflict across borders. Whereas much research to date unpacks the causal relationships between climate and conflict, the XRF is interested in research that focuses primarily on response options from either side of the climate-conflict nexus and draws a clear link to the cross-border or transnational dimensions of these challenges. XCEPT expects research proposals to look beyond recommendations for specific programmes, institutions and local contexts to draw bigger picture lessons about generalisability (or not) and on what works and what doesn't.
XCEPT Fund awards will provide up to £500,000 of funding for 24-month projects. Projects are expected to include a rapid evidence assessment to establish evidence gaps, design and implementation of research responding to gaps identified, and support to the design and oversight of complementary research project(s) commissioned through the XRF.
This funding opportunity is open to research organisations as well as consortia of researchers from different organisations, provided there's a lead organisation. Applications by - or in partnership with - Global South researchers are particularly encouraged.
